Witch's Apprentice - Game Vision Statement

Game Genre:
Witch's Apprentice is an adventure role playing game set in fantasy medieval times. The player gets to live a life of fourteen years old girl who is essentially forced to stay with a Witch - one of the very few still alive and practicing the magic. In order to survive and to eventually leave the Witch, the girl needs to learn how tough a life can be - not only for her, but for people around her. To please the Witch, the girl will practice collecting resources such as crystals, gems and plants, as well as potion making, trading and understanding the history behind witches and their profession.

Possible map idea.

Gameplay:
Witch's Apprentice will be strongly connected and grounded on a story - one that will make the game feel immersive and make the player feel connected to the world, history and the main character.
When it comes to the world, it will consist of a woodlands area with a river going across it, few mountains and a small village.
While the story itself is an original concept, some snippets of real-life history may be expected. Maybe, it will just be short mentionings of women who were considered witches in real life and what had happen to them. After all, witches have a lot of stories to tell.

  1. Hey Ada, hows it going, just saw this blog post about your game and I have to say, from what you layed out already, this sounds seriously interesting and could be something cool. I have to say the setup and story sounds rather interesting, I think its cool you want to the whole story idea where a young teen girl finds out she's a witch and embraces that life, but instead you flip it on its head and you make it a challenge and a curse for her and people in her life. Im just wondering, how does she discover this part of her and is it something hereditary or a "chosen one" idea. I was thinking will her powers grow and will exploring help progress the story. This idea sounds awesome and cant wait to see it fleshed out more, good luck!

  2. Hi Ada, I really love your game idea, can see myself playing a game like that. It sounds like an interesting RPG with magic and what not. I like the idea of progressing and learning throughout the game. I wanna know if you'll be able to customize your character like the girls appearance i.e. hair, clothes etc? Are there any antagonists in the game? I was thinking since there's a village the villagers could attempt to hunt down the witch or something like that. Also maybe add spell casting. The girl could learn a few spells and potions to use on her little adventure. Maybe make symbols appear as she uses/casts spells. Overall a very awesome idea, I'd love to play that game in the future.

  3. Hey Ada! I love this game idea it's very Halloweenie. The story behind it sounds really interesting to me I'll definitely have to give it a go once it's done! The idea of a girl having to stay with a witch reminds me a bit of Rapunzel so I think that's a great concept. I think it's great that the character of the young girl can collect so many things for the witch and make potions. This is a really cool idea how did you come up with it? I also love the idea of the map! Best of luck creating your game:)

  4. hi Ada, i really like your game concept, has a really strong feel to the story and how your planned things out, i really connect well with your character, she seems strong and fearless, she also seems to have a good head on her shoulders.
Have you considered adding in different types of magic too like not just witches but maybe faerie, elf, warlock, necromancer magic also? but either way i feel your game has everything it needs to be a success with everyone.
my only suggestion might be to try to keep the game in a setting based area rather than full open world so you can keep the game more story based, tho it could be pretty nice as a 2d game also, either way i know you will come up with something amazing, love the ideas and the game, keep up the amazing work and best of luck with the game :)
