Workshop 01

For the first lecture, our topic was introduction to the course and a quick task with traffic lights. While the topic didn't seem prticulary difficult, a lot of people in the class didn't understand what was asked of us, so we very quickly lost all of the interest, resulting in us never getting to the end of the exercise. Shame, as the part three and four were to do with Adobe Animate which I was looking forward to use. The idea was good though, because it was trying to teach us to break things into smaller bits and work with sequences. It also showed us that we have problems explaining things in simple English.

The delivery was okay, though I think it should have been more explained, because a lot of people were lost and confused. I enjoyed working in group to discuss the exercise, because some people had pretty good ideas, even though they probably weren't exactly right. Once the whole class started talking, I imagine they could hear us across the whole building.

I don't know how I feel about writing about my experience. I don't particulary mind writing, but I don't like that this is blog and everyone will be able to read, even completely strangers - therefore, opinions from everyone will always be a little sugarcoated.

Previously I had studied two years of Architecture and Interior Design in Blackrock, so if you ever hear me talking about architecture and furniture - now you know why. Apart from the boring course work, the biggest adventure was the travelling to Blackrock. I had to take two trains, and sometimes a bus to get to college, which usually meant waking up at 6am. Final GDD - Witch's Apprentice

Link to the DunDoc ...After completing my DunDoc , I feel more like a botanist than a creative digital media... I will never look at the plants the same way again. Anyway, I updated my document with a lot more information - including descriptions and image references for the characters, as well as the offers of the merchants, so hopefully they will feel a little more human-like now. I included a whole list of plants that will be available in the game, as well as gemstones and rare, buy-only drops from creatures. Now you can also imagine how the map will look like - with somehow detailed village layout, and the surrounding landscapes. System specs, sounds, game flow chart... all added in! So, enjoy?

MD2Final GDD

Source So for this week, I been working again on the Game Design Document. This was mostly to make sure that the document is full of informations about my idea. It sadly takes a lot of time that could be used up for doing the actual project, but at least making the presentation is a bit more fun than just writing all the text on a plain white page or on the DunDoc website. Speaking of DunDoc though - the interactive story will be very strongly based on what I wrote on that website so it might be worth checking out - Click! If everything goes according to the plan, I will finally start doing the story this week. If things slide back, I will just abuse the easter break to do it, since then I will have free time and a good few other projects will be already done at that point.
